Why a trailer
A trailer is the right call when you want to unhook at the end of the day and have your truck back, when you need more water than a truck bed can carry, or when you want a rolling billboard that parks in the driveway while you work. It costs more than a skid once you add registration and insurance, and you need to be comfortable backing it into tight residential driveways. We ran trailers for years in our own washing business, and everything below comes from that.
Single axle or dual axle
Single axle (our 5x8 Portlandian) is light, easy to tow behind a half-ton or SUV, and cheap to register. It tops out around one machine and 100 to 150 gallons of water. Dual axle (the 6x10 Eagle, 6.5x12 and 7x14) carries two machines, 200 to 300 gallons, hot water and four reels, tows straighter at highway speed and has a second axle if a tire lets go. If you plan to run two machines or hot water, go dual axle from the start; nobody has ever wished they bought the smaller trailer.
Open or enclosed
Open trailers are lighter, cheaper and let you reach everything from the ground. Enclosed trailers keep equipment dry, locked and out of sight, which matters if you park on the street or work in winter, but you give up payload to the box and you have to route engine exhaust properly. Our enclosed builds, like Kyle's 5x8, are laid out so the machine exhausts outside and the reels pull from the rear door.
Sizing
| Trailer | Axles | Typical setup | Tow vehicle |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5x8 Portlandian | Single | One machine, soft wash, 100 gal, two reels | Half-ton, mid-size SUV |
| 6x10 Eagle / Hot Eagle | Dual | One or two machines, soft wash, 200 gal, three reels, optional hot water | Half-ton and up |
| 6.5x12 | Dual | Two machines, gas soft wash, 200+ gal, four reels | Three-quarter-ton |
| 7x14 Super Duty | Dual, upgraded | Hot water 8 GPM, triple soft wash, six electric reels | Three-quarter-ton and up |
Water is 8.3 pounds per gallon. A 200-gallon trailer is carrying over 1,600 pounds of water before the machines, so match the axle rating and your hitch to the loaded weight, not the empty weight.
Why our trailers are different
Most pressure washing trailers for sale are an off-the-lot utility trailer with equipment bolted to the deck. Ours are built for washing from the frame up, in Oregon, working one-on-one with the trailer manufacturer: reel racks welded into the frame, upgraded axles, ladder racks with a middle support bar, black rims, full manufacturer warranty on the trailer. On top of that goes the same equipment as every EPW build: Honda engines only, block-mounted unloaders, full-frame aluminum reels with stainless internals, FierceJet hose, Kuri Tec plumbing, full-stainless clamps, marine-grade wiring and heavy-wall non-bulging tanks. The full list is on Why EPW Builds Are Different.
Hot water
Hot water roughly doubles your speed on grease, gum and drive-thru pads and opens up fleet and restaurant work. It adds a burner, diesel tank and weight, so it belongs on a dual-axle trailer. The Hot Eagle and 7x14 Super Duty are built for it. When hot water is worth the money.

Common questions
How much does a pressure washing trailer cost?
A complete single-axle setup like the Portlandian starts around $17,000. Dual-axle 6x10 Eagle setups run in the mid $20,000s, hot water pushes past $30,000, and a fully loaded 7x14 with hot water and triple soft wash is closer to $90,000. Those are finished, plumbed, tested rigs, not bare trailers. We break down what drives the price in our trailer cost guide.
Single axle or dual axle for pressure washing?
Single axle if you are running one machine and 100 to 150 gallons behind a half-ton or SUV. Dual axle if you want two machines, 200 gallons or more, or hot water. Dual tows straighter and gives you a spare axle if a tire fails. Most operators who start single axle upgrade within two years.
What truck do I need to tow a pressure washing trailer?
A loaded 6x10 dual-axle washing trailer is typically in the 5,000 to 7,000 pound range with water, which most half-ton trucks tow comfortably. A 7x14 with hot water and 300 gallons should be behind a three-quarter-ton. Always compare the loaded weight, with water at 8.3 pounds per gallon, to your truck's tow rating.
Are your trailers aluminum?
The trailer frames are steel, custom-built for washing in Oregon with reel racks welded in and upgraded axles. The skids, reels and tanks mounted on them are aluminum and stainless. Aluminum trailer frames are available on request, but steel is what we build most and recommend for the weight these trailers carry.
Do you sell enclosed pressure washing trailers?
Yes. Kyle's 5x8 enclosed build is on this page, and we build enclosed trailers to order in larger sizes. Enclosed keeps your equipment locked and dry; the trade-off is payload lost to the box and the need to route engine exhaust outside, which we design in from the start.
Do you deliver trailers or do I pick up?
Both. We deliver nationwide, and we also encourage customers to pick up in Oregon City so we can walk the whole rig with you and do your training in person. Either way, phone troubleshooting is included for as long as you own it.
